Girls' Brigade - The Place to Bee!

The Girls’ Brigade is a world-wide Christian uniformed organisation open to girls and young women from all backgrounds and faiths. Our motto is “Seek Serve and Follow Christ”.

We aim to help the girls develop in four areas: Spiritual, Physical, Educational and Service. Over the course of a year they participate in activities related to each section to earn a badge.

We are organised into three age groups. The youngest are the Explorers in the age range Primary one to Primary three, next are Juniors who are Primary four to Primary seven and above this are Brigaders – S1 – S6.

Anyone wishing to join should contact us at the email address opposite.

Why Newtonhill Girls' Brigade?

Newtonhill Girls’ Brigade has flourished in the church ever since the building of the new kirk in the village and all of our leaders are proud of the number of girls who have passed through the Company. Many of them, who started as Explorers aged five or six, carried on through all the stages and eventually became officers – either in Newtonhill or wherever their work or studies had taken them.

We are a fun, diverse organisation open to all girls and young women. We aim to teach girls about Jesus Christ and develop their spirituality- but also to have fun! Our activities include crafts, bible readings, sports, dancing and games.

We hope to help girls develop their strength and confidence, and to make friends. We also have opportunities to take part in competitions against other Girls’ Brigades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and to perform and show off what they have learned to parents and guardians.

If that sounds fun to you, come along and check it out on Monday evenings, between 6:30 and 7:30 for Explorers, 6:30 and 7:45 for Juniors, and 7:00 and 8:30 for Brigaders. We hope to see you there, at the Place to Bee!
